| Highway 18 Scale Diecast Metal Vehicles |
FAQ file |
| How big are these models? They are typically 9-13 inches in length and are fairly heavy (being made of metal and all). Below are some pictures showing you a Nissan 300ZX compared to a quarter and a standard 12" ruler. These vehicles are not to be confused with the 1/24th scale vehicles. 1/18th scale is definitely the way to go for great detail and craftsmanship in a small space on an affordable budget (from $10-70 each depending on what manufacturer and what kind of vehicle it is). | ||

How
do you photograph the models? I set up a small area with several
items: two bright incandescent lights, a white cardsheet for background, and my digital
camera is a Kodak
DC210 (same as DC210 Plus) with 32 meg CompactFlash card. The camera is set into
macro mode and all I have to do is play with the exposure settings, take the right
angular shots that really make the car look COOL and REAL, download the shots right into
my computer for image-processing, and then upload onto the Internet. The whole
process for one vehicle doesn't take more than an hour (it can be faster, but then I get
picky on the camera angles I choose... hehehe). |

| How come your pictures come out looking so great and how do you do it? Let's face it. You buy a model because it looks sexy, awesome, powerful and all that good stuff. Wouldn't you want a picture of your model to reflect all those great values? I normally take the pictures and edit them in Photoshop 4.0 in these ways: resize to 300 pixels width for the web, sharpen to enhance the details, increase the contrast to bring out the full body textures and striking colors, and finally color-correct the image by wiping out incandescent yellows and some reds through the color-balance tool. Below are examples of before and after image-processing. | ||
