Anime Expo 2001
Panels and Workshops 6

Faerie Fingers Cosplay Brainstorm: Melissa Quinn, a longtime favorite costume maker for countless anime cosplayers around the country, gave her featured lessons on building great costumes from the ground up.  Starting with fabrics and ending with advanced sewing techniques, topics included collecting research on uses of fabrics involving twill, lycra, spandex, and natural fibers, applying underneath an "interface" fabric backing to the fabric canvas to stiffen areas that need body and shape for uniforms and visible flat surfaces, shopping resources on the Internet and around local communities, and discussions on conventional and innovative fabric cuts to make for designs involving complex color features.  Website can be reached at Faerie-Fingers.com
Anime Online: Hosted by (left to right) Matt Martin, Webmistress Lizzard, Patrick Delahanty, Jim Lazar, Keith Rhee, and Megazone, avid web audience members gained insight into the fevered web design work that goes into the stylish websites that these people produce.  It's not just about html anymore.  It's about great articles, great fan fictions, good photos, concerns about content plagiarism, and providing quality information for the online community.  A quick highlight and example included Lionel Lum dropping in real quick to take the panel shot, give salutations, jot down notes, and wander off to more panels.
Fan Fiction: Hosted by longtime fan fiction writers including Megazone, Ryan Mathews, Thomas Kinnen, and Jim Lazar, audience members yearning for good fiction advice received great wisdom from these very experienced authors.  Topics featured concerns about dealing with content plagiarism, using online pseudonyms, striving for individualism, properly creating and introducing new characters, applying creativity and innovation to an old fiction, remembering the giant Ranma fight fanfics, editorial consistencies, and writing in a universe that works versus in a universe that bends everyone's imagination.
Yaoi / Shounen: The audience has spoken and the results are in: the world is better off with more bishounen boys for both genders.  With anime like Gundam Wing and upcoming conventions like Yaoi-Con to spur the hearts of female masses, bishounen stories are gaining fast acceptance among more females and males alike who desire these kinds of stylish dramas.
Macross: Hosted by dedicated Macross fans contributing to the Macross Compendium, panelists included Shin Kurokawa, Dana Weaver, Neil Nadelman, and Egan Loo.  With Macross fan interest still at a high in the anime community, information was given on constantly  pushing for Macross Plus toy kits, soundtracks, and more Macross paraphernalia for the American fans.
