Linus Lam's Coverage of AnimeExpo2000

Filled to maximum capacity this year, the long-lived Art Show freshened up with new art panels worthy of displaying the very classy artworks so richly deserving of a nice backdrop for excellent presentation. Artistic quality has certainly risen each and every year, but this year was different; the number of submissions have dramatically increased and even more fan art was sold this year to the appeasement of those hardworking artists.

Above: Located across from the fan Art Show was the very exclusive showcase of Guest of Honor Ms. Takada Akemi's artworks, hand-picked from her collection of production oils and pastels used for promoting such shows as Kimagure Orange Road and Creamy Mami. These were the original works published on various CD covers, booklets, Laserdiscs, art books, magazines, and posters that have all enjoyed more than a decade's worth of fan spirit.

Above and below: in the fan Art Show, a tremendous growth of fantastic works took up nearly every single panel divided into three long sections. Inspired from such old shows like Ranma 1/2 and Ah! My Goddess! and new shows like Revolutionary Girl Utena and Cowboy BeBop, fans could bid on or buy anything they liked, pay for, and walk away with some great masterpiece the artist was proud to finish in time for AX2000.
