Residents of Anime
Weekend Atlanta's "weekend" had the pleasure of enjoying their activities in a
larger venue this year. With lots to see and do, various activities included the AWA Amateur Film Festival, a showing of the never before seen 1963 Astro Boy Episode, "Expedition to
Mars" to mark the 40th anniversary celebration of Astro Boy's appearance in America as an anime
series and the 50th anniversary of the manga, Cel Painting Workshops by Steve Bennett, a Costume Contest,
Doujinshi Workshop by artist Robert DeJesus, a host of Game Shows by Greggo, the Good Morning AWA
for attendees to meet and chat with their favorite guests, and the premiere of Otaku Unite!, a feature-length documentary on the history of Japanese animation fandom in the United States. |
