Panels! Panels! Panels! More panels than you can shake a stick at and then some! Anime Central 2002 offered a huge variety of panels galore featuring many esteemed Guests of Honor, noted fans, and industry representatives from the domestic anime kingdoms all heading healthy discussions on various exciting anime and manga-related topics ranging from new shows, fan activities, industry follow-ups, historical perspectives, and other forms of fan entertainment lasting all throughout the day. Packed full of attendees, every single panel or activity offered something to learn from. If only school or work meetings were this stimulating.

Con Photography Workshop: Moderated by Kevin Lillard of Fansview, Lionel Lum of LLNN, and Dennis Carr, advice for the beginning and advanced photographers for convention photo opportunities highlighted tripod use, different camera brands, digital vs. film cameras, pose vs. candid shots, lowlight vs. flash units, proper stances for special photography, and difficulties raised when shooting during Masquerade time when flashes are not allowed.


Make Mine Manga 1: "Thinking in Manga: Creating the Manga-style Story": Bruce Lewis gave an intensive art training seminar featuring topics concerning artist satisfaction, detailing the creative process, conscious vs. unconsciousness, keeping a doodle file, disciplining the mind through practice and making mistakes, and improving hand-eye coordination to augment existing psychological skills and artistic perception.


Robotech Fan Panel: It was back to the good old days of Carl Macek's Robotech, as attendees heartily discussed various fanfictions like carying on the love story between Rick and Lisa and tossing in a little Minmei for spice as well as Evangelion crossovers.


Tips and Tricks in Photoshop: Aric and Yad of Imbrium Entertainment used their newest manga release "Bad Moon, the Color of the Night" to show examples of using Adobe Photoshop for manga use.  Highlights included proper use of layers, shadows, midtones, contrasting, various filters, and frosting effects.


Obscure Anime Dubs: Curious about the past?  Again?  Fans both young and old gathered to watch various clips of those old, REALLY old, anime shows from yesteryear brought back to life to see just how much quality in anime has changed between then and now.
Tokyopop Industry Panel: A representative from Tokyopop was on hand to give fans details about new releases such as Love Hina, GTO, Vampire Princess Miyu TV, Real Bout High School, Marmalade Boy, Rain, and many more.
